There seems to be a mistake in the Modbo 4.0 install diagrams (available on the web) for some of the 9000x units. The 9000x has a few variants, mainly the two boards GH-071-42 & the GH-072-42. Prior to installing a modbo 4.0 on a GH-071-41 yesterday, I compared the two install diagrams of the 2 variants: GH-071-41 & GH-072-42, and they're almost identical in terms of board layout.

Hi, There seems to be a mistake in the Modbo 4.0 install diagrams (available on the web) for some of the 9000x units., mainly the two boards GH-071-42 & the GH-072-42. Prior to installing a modbo 4.0 on a GH-071-41 yesterday, I compared the two install diagrams of the 2 variants: GH-071-41 & GH-072-42, and they're almost identical in terms of board layout. The only different connection was the point 'CX'.

I found that odd, since the layout in the area appears to be exactly the same, with the same components on both builds. So I wondered if it's not just another mistake (there's also a mistake for some other pin for the V7: 39001 units as well). Anyway, I soldered the 'CX' point per the GH-071-42 install diagram (which is the board I have), and everything worked except backup DVD9 games (I don't have original DVD9 games, so not sure about those). I changed the 'CX' solder point per the GH-072-42 diagram, and that fixed it. I soldered the 'CX' wire back and forth, between the two locations twice to validate the findings, and in both cases, DVD9 backups won't play (stops at the browser screen) per the connection point of GH-071-41, and DVD9 backups would play per the connection point of GH-072-42, even though it's a GH-071-42 board.

Example of install diagrams of the GH-071-42 with the mistake: Other sources also had this mistake. Install diagram of GH-072-42: I couldn't find any info on the web, so I thought I'd add this here just in case someone else may run into this some day. Edit - Adding details: - This is the Modbo 4.0 with 1.93 Matrix Infinity FW - The DVD9 support was enabled in the configuration menu - Modbo 4.0 PCB is not white, but dark green/blue. Jinn wrote:I don't know why you would get that error unless you are using the Modbo with firmware 1.99 or 2.0 because I have installed A LOT of Modbo 1.93 in the 90k with no issues what so ever.

Since you are not sure about the CX I would suggest you start to use the Matrix Infinity White PCB 1.93 since it doesn;t use the CX point. I have a Modbo 750 in a 9000x that I bought from Jinn in a bulk-chip order, I had no problems whatsoever. Jinn, could he try grabbing the clock signal from an alternative point? The PS2 is a very finnicky architecture, and if it wasn't for Jinn I wouldn't know half of what I know.

Cant really help on diagram info as the link seems to be down at the moment but I can say this I bought 4 modbo 4 chips back when I attempted this and was no good at soldering burned up 2 of them using too hot of an iron then finally got all the wires attached to the chip looked at the super tiny points I needed to link it to on the motherboard. Promptly noped out have not returned since then. Freemcboot is enough for me 95% of the time bought a crystal chips modded ps2 that I use for the other 5% of the time. Could you back them up then ESR patch them so region wouldn't matter or do a samba share and network launch them with OPL? Sorry I could not answer the original question. Just thought I would put my ideas out.

I think the lag on network share might be more in how you manage your internal network but I cannot say for sure my OPL network box is still in progress.(I work all the time). I get that you prefer original disk but I will mention ripping them to ISO then ESR patching and burning them back to disk would fix your issue. Its also much easier than a hard mod with a modbo. I wish I could get my hands on a DMS4 ezi pro chip again had one in highschool.

Best modchip ever in my book. Sadly someone stole it at a house party. On the note of the diagram it could also be that the same diagram applies to the modbo 4 and that they just updated the chip. PS if I find OPL network works well I will let you know.

Yes with the use of a crossover cable and proper network settings entered you can go direct to the box. For mine I plan to have both options available as I have 2 nics.

One will be set up for direct if im taking it somewhere the other set up to use over my in home network and the box will set in my server room so that I can keep things looking tidy. If the software is included depends on what installer you used for FMCB if you used the 1.95 noobie package than yes its preinstalled. When I got my first FMCB off ebay they used 1.94 and it was not installed. If its not installed its super easy to do so get a usb drive download the elf file put it on the USB then plug into PS2 browse to it with ULE and copy it to your memory card. Then you have it.
